“You have to let your kids do what they want to do. That’s how life works. You’re doing it wrong! You guys are doing life wrong!”
This is what our 5 year old son told us a few months ago. Not going to lie–it’s stuck with me. Maybe he was on to something. I feel like I’ve been back and forth with a million things. So much so, that I sometimes miss the small things going on around me. Life is short–I know it’s a cheesy saying, but it’s true. In the big scheme of things, the 80-90 years we’re here is just a blip. I spend so much time stressing out about a little bit of everything! One of the most frequent things I stress about is how fast my kids are growing up. And while I’m sitting there stressing about it, I’m not witnessing every little bit of them that evolves daily. So, I’m going to do better. I’m going to stress less.
Now, it’s entirely possible he said this to us just because he was mad that we didn’t cave in and get him a toy he wanted at the time… but, I’m going to choose to look at it as my wise little 5 year old feeling his mom was just in need of some advice. 😛
